What is the difference between hiding and deleting?

RotaMaster will only allow information that isn't used elsewhere in the system to be deleted, if the information has been used historically but is no longer required then it must be hidden.

For example, if a shift has been created in Shift Pattern Manager and rolled out to the live rota at any point you will not be able to delete it however, the shift can be hidden.

Hiding shifts

To hide a shift go to Rota>Shift Pattern Manager and find the relevant Shift Pattern. Select the shift you want to hide and click Hide Shift

A box will be generated asking if you're sure you wish to hide the shift clicking Yes will hide the shift, effectively removing it from your Shift Pattern.

Viewing hidden shifts and unhiding them

Hidden shifts can be viewed at any point by checking the Show Hidden Shifts box in the bottom left corner of the screen, this will show all hidden shifts in red at the bottom of your Shift Pattern

To Unhide a shift you can select the hidden shift and click Unhide Shift this will add your shift back into your Shift Pattern

✋When a shift has been unhidden this will not automatically add it to the live rota so if you need it to be added you will have to do this manually.

Deleting shifts

Shifts can be deleted by selecting the shift and clicking Delete Shift

.

If the shift has been used in the live rota a warning will be generated saying the shift cannot be deleted and it must be hidden instead.
