How does clocking in/out affect the rota?

Please note, this article only applies to customers with the RotaMaster Attendance+ module. Please speak to your account manager to find out more.

When using Attendance+, staff clockings in and out all feed through to the View Rota screen in RotaMaster to enable managers/administrators to have a real time view of attendance.

Each clock in or out that falls outside of 'Grace Periods' will create an exception for a manager/administrator to handle/process. However, some clocks that fall outside of grace periods will automatically update the shift times in view rota without the need for exception handling.

The rota will automatically change the shift start/end times without the need in the following circumstances;

- If a shift is shortened due to a late clock in

- If a shift is shortened due to an early clock out

These changes can be reversed by handling the exceptions from the Matched Exceptions screen - click here to read more about this screen.

The rota will not automatically change in the following circumstances;

- If a shift would be lengthened by an early clock in or an early clock out

- If a clock falls into the Unmatched Exceptions screen

- If a shift would be lengthened/shortened by a clock in or out that falls within the Grace Periods set in the Rota Group Attendance Rules. Click here to learn more about Grace Period configurations.

Once any exceptions have been handled - whether they are matched or unmatched - the rota will automatically update in line with how they were handled.
