Creating Administrator Templates

Creating Security Profile Templates

To save configuration, profiles can be setup as Templates and then assigned to different users. This is useful if, for example, all Service Managers will have the same access. One template can be created and then assigned to the Service Managers, saving configuration work.

To do this, go to Configuration > Security and click on the green plus button to add a user (please see this article for more information on how to create administrator users and the different permissions that each user can have). On the New User screen, shown below, click the 'Is Template' tickbox;

From here, the following will be shown;

Enter a name in Template, and then select a Role and User Type (explained in this guide) and click Create.

This template will now be stored. To create individual users from this template go to Configuration > Security > Templates > choose the relevant section, which will depend on the User Type selected when configuring the template.

Click on the template name and then click the Copy button, shown below;

This will give you the following options:

Selecting 'New From User or Template' will show the following box:

mceclip0 (65)

Here you can select if you want to create a new user or update an existing user's permission to match the template.

If you want to make a new user you will have to fill in the information in the box, once you have made your selection press copy.

As the User Type of the template was Both, the individual's profile will be stored under Configuration > Security > Users > RotaMaster & Web, and can be edited from here without affecting the template.

Selecting 'Copy From User or Template' will show the following box:

Here you have the option to choose which existing user profile(s) you want to copy the template to. This will update any existing user permissions that profile has to reflect any permissions set up in the Template.

The bottom half of the box allows you to select which part(s) of the user template you wish to copy over to the existing profile e.g. selecting Copy Rota Permissions but not Copy Rota Group Permissions will update the user's Rota Permissions but not affect their Rota Group access.
